This specialised eLearning module provides an in-depth exploration of blood cell morphology in neonates and children, highlighting the unique physiological and pathological features that distinguish paediatric haematology from adult practice. Understanding these differences is essential for accurate interpretation and reporting of paediatric blood films.
The course is designed as an adjunct to Online Haematology Morphology and builds upon the foundational knowledge of red cell nomenclature, white cell classification, and platelet morphology. Through guided lessons, quizzes, and interactive case studies, learners will gain the skills to recognise normal developmental variations, identify abnormal features, and correlate findings with relevant clinical conditions.
The module is divided into three key sections — Red Cells, White Cells, and Platelets — each addressing morphology, reference ranges, and age-specific haematological changes from the neonatal period through to childhood.
